Young Mewar Princess carves her own niche – Corporate Tycoons, October 2013

Born with a silver spoon in her mouth to the House of Mewar, Padmaja Kumari Parmar is glad to have been born to parents who have believed in working hard. To have the ‘princess’ tag only means added responsibility to live upto the name and respect that the Mewar dynasty rests upon her shoulders.

Brought up in the epicenter of hospitality, Mewar, the genre has been her second nature for eons. “Being a member of the House of Mewar has helped me enormously as a professional hotelier. I have always maintained that hospitality comes naturally to people from our background. We grew up with lots of people around us—there is protocol to be maintained and hierarchies to be understood and followed,” points out Padmaja. She still moved on to fine polish and globalize her knowledge and started her career in the hospitality industry with the Four Seasons Hotel in New York at age 23. She respects the training she received there even today. She has not looked back from there, and has only hopped levels to put all her skills into practice for HRH Group of Hotels while learning along.

Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar in pink spirits!

13. November 2013 10:16 by Team Eternal Mewar in Eternal Mewar

Brunch, the weekly magazine of Hindustan Times, boldly asks men to show their colourful persona with bold yellows and pinks. With renowned fashion designers giving a green go! Bright and loud colours that used to rightfully belong only to the women, have now turned the tables for the men. Though men around the world are shying away from these striking colours, they speak a different language in India and especially Rajasthan. Fuchsia pink, for example, is the ‘navy blue’ of India. Combined adequately and appropriately with subtle colours, this colour still looks regal. The perfect model caught off guard by Brunch was Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, who flaunted his love for the colour and the richness it exudes above all other perceptions of the colour.

Isn’t that what happens to you when you’re happy and proud beyond limits? And why not? 8th November recorded 11,258 visits! Pleasure beyond measure. Going pretty good since the beginning of the month, on the 8th, it rose to a number we couldn't resist sharing with you. As much as we are happy to do so, we’d like to personally thank all those visitors who have ever visited City Palace Museum, Udaipur and made the monument such a favourite that it has become over the years.

Over 4 centuries old, The City Palace is a prized possession of the House of Mewar that is the World’s oldest living and serving dynasty. Built in A.D. 1559 by Rana Udai Singh II, father of Maharana Pratap, the majestic palace stands on a low ridge called Rana Magri (Rana’s Hill) overlooking the fresh water lake, Pichola. One of the most well planned structures, the City Palace assumes a shape of one edifice from the exterior, with canopies, towers, domes, cupolas, bastions, beautifully carved balconies and ornamental turrets. The building is a unique depiction of the architectural and artistic evolution of Mewar through centuries. The City Palace Museum, Udaipur proudly safeguards and preserves the cultural heritage and the time honoured traditions of the people of Mewar, even today.

The magic affair is about to take place on the moonlit stage floating in the sparkling Lake Pichola. Ain’t it true that when there’s joy inside, the world is happy outside? And the mesmerising setting of KartikPoornima 2013 is most certainly not even a bit lesser than rapturous. With immense joy inside their hearts and under the mystic lunar spotlight will be two sought after Bharatnatyam artists dancing to the rhythm that the beautiful night stirs up in them.

Here’s a little prelude of what lies ahead. One of the performers of KartikPoornima is Rama Vaidyanathan, a leading exponent of Bharatanatyam. This genre is popular of India. Rama has trained intensively under the legendary dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and the renowned Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan. Everyone who has seen Rama perform is struck by her unique thought process and fresh approach to dance. While deeply rooted in tradition she has evolved her own individual style without forsaking the core principles of BharataNatyam. She brings to her dance a rare sense of devotion and dedication, which leaves the audience with a sense of spiritual fulfillment.

With innumerable awards and accolades under her wing, Rama has actively been a part of a array of legendary performances and highly useful workshops and lecture demonstrations. Apart from full length traditional performances for the avid Bharatanatyam lover, she also regularly performs for SPICMACAY.
A performing career spanning over 25 years, Rama is a top acknowledged artist with Doordarshan, the National Television Channel and is in the outstanding category of artistes with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
