A healthy community is all it takes to be a wealthy empire

Sir George Bernard Shaw rightly said, “Give a man health and a course to steer, and he will never stop to trouble about whether he’s happy or not.” The charitable dispensary run by MMCF that extends free medical aid to the needy round the year is a small step to ensure that the community of Mewar lives a healthy and happy life. This dispensary is housed by the City Palace, the living palace that has become an iconic example of heritage and cultural preservation.

Here, services may range from assistance for the elderly to monetary reimbursement for social workers who distribute medicines to the needy and disabled villagers. More than 12,000 patients benefit each year from the dispensary manned by a team of medical professionals. The annual spend on medical aids has seen a steady rise from 42,000 (INR) in 2005-06 to 3 lakhs (INR) in 2012-13. Annual medical checkups are also organised by the foundation for the working staff.  The trust also provides miscellaneous charity that is activated in special cases only, or when the demand outweighs the funding available. In most cases, the people applying for assistance are nearing a life or death situation.

Stay rooted with MMCF

Warren Buffett, the most successful investor and philanthropist of the 20th century once said, “Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Food for thought indeed.

Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, is constantly working to serve the community and keep it close to its culture and heritage. It looks forward to creating inspirations for the generations to come. As part of the same endeavour, MMCF recently extended a cash donation of INR 8000 to a farmer and environmentalist of Bhinder village, Devendra Singh. The village falls under the district of Udaipur, Rajasthan. The farmer bought 10 tree guards with the donation and placed them near a primary school at Bhim ka Kheda.

Small as it may seem, the initiative brought a smile to many faces. MMCF sees this as a medium to convey a valuable message to the future youth of our country. It intends to make them sensitive towards preservation of environment and keep them connected with our culture.
