Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar in pink spirits!

Brunch, the weekly magazine of Hindustan Times, boldly asks men to show their colourful persona with bold yellows and pinks. With renowned fashion designers giving a green go! Bright and loud colours that used to rightfully belong only to the women, have now turned the tables for the men. Though men around the world are shying away from these striking colours, they speak a different language in India and especially Rajasthan. Fuchsia pink, for example, is the ‘navy blue’ of India. Combined adequately and appropriately with subtle colours, this colour still looks regal. The perfect model caught off guard by Brunch was Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, who flaunted his love for the colour and the richness it exudes above all other perceptions of the colour.

You are only as old as you feel. And as caught up as you think!

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

- by Rabindranath Tagore

Rightly written and well absorbed for years, the words are still valued as ever-inspiring and help us break away from the clutches of time and social pressures and lead the mind into the new. Into the NOW.

Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur delivered an inspiring talk at ‘I Next Generation (NxG) International Convention on Family Business’ focusing on ‘Step Up: Taking the Family Business to the Next Level’ at Taj Exotica, Goa on 26th October 2013. He picked out living examples to bring home the point that the past must not be allowed to bind one’s actions of today. Why belong to a generation when we belong to NOW. True education as he said is new learning.  And that must be applied to let yourself wander, explore and experiment. That’s how the new can be created. And the time to do this has never been better. Let’s begin NOW! “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

Fire it up, family businesses!

Family businesses represent a predominant form of business organisation in the world. These heterogeneous enterprises offer a challenging array of issues to study and are beginning to receive substantial scholarly attention.

The convention, patterned on similar conventions held by FBN International, will provide a powerful platform to Next Generation Family Business leaders from across the country to share their experiences as well as discuss some of the most pressing issues concerning their role in business. It will have a sizeable international participation and several prominent Next Gen leaders from different countries shall be seen addressing the audience and sharing case studies. The three-day event will direct attention on diverse themes of interest to young business leaders, such as social media, viral marketing and brand building. There will be panel discussions on topics like ‘New Leaders - Building Credibility & Trust in the Family Business’ and ‘Outside Work Experience vs Joining Family Business Directly’. Besides, participants will be introduced to the 'New Leaders Circle'.

Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Trustee - Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation will present a case study from an Indian perspective.
