Swaranjali 2013: when pure music befalls, it mesmerises its listeners and the singers along!

21. October 2013 11:17 by Team Eternal Mewar in Events & Shows

Guru Poornima celebrated with the purest form of music in the perfect ambience of Shri Eklingnathji Temple by Eternal Mewar, is growing on people by the year. Those who understand Indian classical music simply close their eyes and drift away. Those who do not, are surprised at themselves responding to the melodies in such harmony. Above all, the vocalists and musicians themselves fall short of words to describe what they felt when they performed at Swaranjali 2013. They cannot thank Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar more for making this possible every year and bringing together the connoisseurs of music on a single platform while creating new ones. A platform that remains to be unique to Mewar and in the world.

Fun and learning goes hand in hand at MMPS

30. August 2013 20:47 by Team Eternal Mewar in Educational Institutions

Learning never stops at MMPS. Be it through interactive intellectual games and quizzes. Or through music and dance. The culture here still finds its roots in the culture of Mewar which is full of celebration, colour and music. Last week saw all children at the school in high spirit, dancing and performing, learning and enjoying all the way. After a brain-racking quiz, the school organised an Inter-house Solo and Group Dance Competition on 24th August for the junior and senior kids. The competition posed to be a great platform for the children to come together as team-players and get a hands on experience of the culture of India and Mewar in particular.

It’s only when it gives you goose bumps, you know music can touch your soul too!

Just what the first rain does to you after the prickling summer. With a wet breeze on a full moon night. As if the ambience were not enough to melt you, the classical music also hits you from afar and mesmerizes you. And you wonder, can this be real till you pinch yourself hard to believe.

You got it right! That time of the year is approaching and beckons you once again to succumb to the indulgent music by renowned vocalists and instrumentalists at the Ekling ji Temple, Kailaspuri. Started in the year 2003 by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, Shree Eklingji Trust and Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Kala Trust jointly celebrate the Guru Poornima – a tribute to the teacher with the mystic ‘SWARANJALI’, which literally means a musical tribute.

Ekling ji temple is located 21 kms from Udaipur at Kailaspuri and is home to Parmeshwarji Maharaj,  in whose honour is Swaranjali celebrated each year. This year, it is being celebrated on 22nd July. The musical ceremony will be carried out in two sittings: 10.30 am to 1.35 pm and 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm.

Long Exposure ready to enchant you again!

On 30th May, the Zenana Mahal at City Palace Museum, Udaipur will be seen adorned with the archival pictorial treasures of Mewar given a face-lift with new framing. The photo gallery, Long Exposure: The Camera at Udaipur, 1857-1957 has been drawing thousands of eye-balls and leaving people awed since March 2009. The photographs are from Maharana Shambhu Singh (r. 1861-1874) to the time of Maharana Bhagwat Singh (r. 1955-1984). There are portraits, hand painted photographs, Carte-de-visite, Albumen Print, Gelatin Silver print etc. And not by one single photographer!

Long Exposure, after being closed for public view for a brief span of time for re-framing of some pictures is ready to take you back in time to experience the royalty once again. This time with deeper conviction.

The revived collection will be inaugurated on 30th May at The Bhagwat Prakash Photo Gallery at The City Palace Museum by Mr. Vikas S. Bhale, IAS, District Collector and District Magistrate, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Post inauguration, Long Exposure will be open for public view from 31st May 2013.

A special thanks to Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar for his enthusiastic support in extracting the old treasures. It would not have been thinkable without him. Stay tuned with us for the regular action on Long Exposure.
