Have you met Anurag Mehta?

A young enthusiast who literally talks to the canvas. Self-taught artist who masters the language of water colours. A man of traditions blended with the contemporary who finds his inspirations in architecture. A local of Udaipur whose first love is the City of Lakes. And his recent collection of artworks too!

If you think, with this you’ve known him already, hold on! He is his work. And art is his attitude. He thrives on the architectural beauties of Rajasthan and finds his anchor in Udaipur, with all the marvelous forts and palaces, colurs and cultures of all realms and fascinating peculiarities in the nooks and corners of the city. He comments, "Big gates and narrow streets are a peculiarity of the lake city", and has not refrained from capturing them on his canvas in interesting strokes.

A chance meeting with Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar set the ball rolling for Anurag. It was an instant decision by MMCF to promote a local artist of such caliber. This adds to the promotional initiatives that MMCF takes to keep alive the art and culture of Mewar. Anurag Mehta’s recent collection comprises of 11 water colour paintings of Udaipur covering the City Palace, Manek Chowk, Shiv Niwas Palace, Jagmandir, Shambhu Niwas (the royal residence), Toran Pole, Tripolia. These landmarks have been beautifully captured in different views and hues by the artist’s brushes and can be valued only when seen.

MMCF is happy to become a medium to present the works by Anurag Mehta before you. Please visit our website to admire his paintings and order online. This is a non-profit initiative from MMCF in sole admiration of good art.

BlackBook, June 2013 edition spotlights two of our galleries!

22. June 2013 08:30 by Team Eternal Mewar in Eternal Mewar

Luxury trade magazine, Blackbook, has covered the opening of our music gallery – ‘Symphony of Mewar’ as well as the photo exhibition ‘Long Exposure’ in its June edition. It is indeed a pleasure to become a placeholder in this luxury bible. At the same time, we’re delighted to have found a sought after platform to enlighten readers of greater capacities with the arts of a golden era.

Remarking upon the idea behind the music gallery, Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur said, “The foundation of this Music Gallery at City Palace is connected towards preserving Mewar’s living heritage.” The royal family of Mewar has always appreciated and patronised classical music. It was in Mewar that a new genre of temple music known as ‘haveli sangeet’ found its way into the court, setting foundations for Dhrupad and Dhamaar Gayaki. Elaborating on the photography exhibit, he adds, “This photographic exhibition is a veritable sea of stories and every frame tells a different one. While the stories and anecdotes are part of the family history, they are at the same time biographies of historical figures that were instrumental in bringing about paradigm shifts in the history of our country.”
