One of the best-in-class out of 18 sound and light shows in India, The Mewar Sound and Light Show can be seen every evening at the City Palace, Udaipur. It is India's first such show produced by a non-governmental private organisation.

The 1500 year old history of Mewar is as rich as it gets. The Sound and Light show that brings it all alive for you matches it in class with Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, the 76th  and current custodian of Mewar, opening the show with a welcome dialogue. What follows is an entertaining trail of 12 episodes that lets you live the history for yourself, witnessing the devotion of the dynasty’s founder Bappa Rawal. The glory of Rani Padmini and Chittorgarh, the sacrifice of Panna Dhai and all the celebrated chapters of the history of Mewar have been put together as a show staged under the night sky to make people aware of the legacy. Each time the show kicks off in the evenings, it makes Mewar smile with pride!

The show has two versions – Hindi (Yash ki Dharohar) and English (The Legacy of Honour) . The Hindi version has been composed by Pandit Shri Narendra Mishra and script of the English show is written by Princess Devaki Singh of Kapurthala. The strokes of nature

31. August 2013 10:20 by Team Eternal Mewar in Events & Shows

This 11-day International art workshop showcasing works of 21 artistes of national and International repute has travelled to the City Palace, Udaipur. The workshop, after touching thousands of art connoisseurs at Ranakpur, will be held at Zenana Mahal, City palace, Udaipur. It gets inaugurated today at 5pm and continues through 2nd September, 2013.

The Inspiration

Art is inspiring. But what inspires art? The nature that surrounds us and the culture that’s inside us. What better inspiration than Rajasthan and Mewar per say? With its glorious heritage, rich culture and striking natural mix of mountains, greens and lakes, Mewar was an obvious inspiration for improving the art works that had captured the vivid Rajasthan on the canvas.

So, nature does inspire art. And art returns the favour and captures it forever. In the heart and mind of the artist. And on the canvas. For us to see what they see and feel what they feel. And for the generations to know their history better. So, what really led Art Symposia to kick start?

•  The desire to give a new dimension to the cultural milieu of Rajasthan through an appreciated medium.
•  To enhance the interest of masses and upcoming artistes in contemporary art
•  To initiate a process of assimilation of artistic atmosphere with the prevalent naturally green environs of Udaipur.
•  To start a process of integrating art with the prevalent education system
•  To bring budding artists on a common platform with renowned artists of the world to initiate a dialogue and make this platform available to generous patrons and art lovers as well.

The Palette

The hundreds of artworks that have touched so many hearts and will continue to do so were not born overnight. It’s the souls of 21 seasoned artistes that have been spilled on their canvasses. So who are they?

Jyoti Bhatt | Parmjit Singh | Suresh Sharma | Mahendra Kadya | Jai Zarotia | Shabbir Hasan Quazi | Vidhyasagar Upadhyay | P.D. Dhumal | L.L Verma | Yusuf | Vilas Shinde | Jinsook Shinde | Jamal Ahmed | Mona Rai | Cristina Taniguchi | Dinesh Kothary | Ingrid Pitzer | Abrahim Ghazala | Naseem Ahmed | K.D Lakshman | Santosh More

They are prominent figures with their works showcased online. So just ‘google’ their names to know them better. Better still, be there at Zenana Mahal, City Palace, at 5pm today or anytime between 10 am and 5 pm tomorrow or day-after to see their works in person

Fun and learning goes hand in hand at MMPS

30. August 2013 20:47 by Team Eternal Mewar in Educational Institutions

Learning never stops at MMPS. Be it through interactive intellectual games and quizzes. Or through music and dance. The culture here still finds its roots in the culture of Mewar which is full of celebration, colour and music. Last week saw all children at the school in high spirit, dancing and performing, learning and enjoying all the way. After a brain-racking quiz, the school organised an Inter-house Solo and Group Dance Competition on 24th August for the junior and senior kids. The competition posed to be a great platform for the children to come together as team-players and get a hands on experience of the culture of India and Mewar in particular.
